Founded by husband and wife Isabelle and Stewart Penfold, Couvert Hire was born from a passion for entertaining and a vision for something better.

After studying Hotel Management at Westminster College, Isabelle built her career in corporate hospitality, developing an exceptional eye for detail, and a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to deliver catering experiences. In 2011, Stewart joined her to establish Couvert Hire, bringing a complementary skillset shaped by his early career in the City. With a strong financial mindset, Stewart underpins the business operations, ensuring Couvert Hire delivers consistency at the highest level.

Together, they brought their shared expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to Surrey, where quality hire options were limited at the time.

The name Couvert — meaning “cover charge” in French — was inspired by Isabelle’s father — a meaningful nod to her French family roots and the art of a beautifully laid table.

Today, Couvert Hire continues to rely on its foundations of a family-like culture where people are valued, empowered, and inspired to excel. Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do, and we take immense pride in delivering excellence — together.
